KCFC PRESENTAION - Quality Mark Community Award

King Kenny Praises KCFC Quality

Hampden Park was the venue for the Scottish FA South West Region’s annual Quality Mark awards evening.
Kilbirnie Community Football Club were among over 100 representatives from clubs and schools that have achieved Quality Mark status who came together to recognize the latest recipients. Seventeen different organisations were presented their awards by Scotland’s greatest ever player Kenny Dalglish!
It was an evening of mutual admiration. The attendees all marveled at a montage of Kenny’s goals and achievements while Kenny was genuinely blown away by the dedication and hard work of the grassroots volunteers. These are the people that make our game possible for the 99% of all players who are not part of the professional game.

Kilbirnie Community Football Club were recognized for achieving top standards in five different sections, Management, Administration, Player and Coach Development, Planning and of course, Welfare.
The South West Region’s Club Development Manager John Brown commented:
“We at the Scottish FA are delighted by the ongoing work undertaken by Kilbirnie and with a hard working committee headed by Chairman Wullie McKinnon, Treasurer Neil Cairns and PR officer Steve Wilson taking things forward, football in the local area is in good hands!”

Kenny Dalglish spoke about the Quality Mark programme and thanked the Scottish FA, Big Lottery and sponsors McDonalds for making it possible. Kenny then enthused about the effort and dedication that everyone had shown for football in the community. Kenny received a standing ovation after he took questions from the floor about his playing career, football development and topical issues. A great night was had by all and everyone left with renewed enthusiasm and focus for delivering the best quality experience for our players of the future.

McDonald’s, official partner of the Scottish FA Quality Mark Accreditation Scheme, will invest £100,000 in the scheme over the next three years as part of its ongoing commitment to grassroots football in Scotland. The scheme is part of McDonald’s long-standing partnership with the Scottish FA, which has also helped to create over 1,400 community coaches across Scotland since 2002 and Kilbirnie have benefited greatly from this and will continue to do so in the future. Through the scheme, McDonald’s and the Scottish FA aim to provide support to grassroots clubs and schools across Scotland as they strive to broaden youth and community participation and to enhance player, coach and volunteer development.

The Quality Mark scheme is supported by the Big Lottery Fund, which contributes to the employment of all Scottish FA club development staff, as well as discounted coach education and first aid courses for grassroots volunteers. The Big Lottery Fund is a key Scottish FA partner, contributing £6m to the delivery of the Scottish FA Youth Action Plan.
