KCFC as part of a new venture provided mascots at the Ladeside Scottish Cup tie v Livingston which they won 4-1.

"Kilbirnie Ladeside and Kilbirnie Community Football Club working together" aims at building a closer relationship between the Juniors and the Community side and we look forward to other initiatives in future weeks.

Each player was presented with a certificate as attached and this can be adapted for future games when we hope to supply mascots again.

A great result for Ladeside winning the tie 4-1. C'mon the 'Side

KCFC Annual Winter Dance

KCFC are holding their annual Winter Dance on Saturday 19th November at Kilbirnie Community Social Club and tickets are available from all the teams or by calling 683474 priced only £3 each. The music is provided by the ever popular " Distant Sun" and it is a good chance for all the parents, guardians and helpers to mingle in a non footballing social atmosphere. A great night not to be missed.

Along side the dance KCFC are holding a variety of raffles. The general raffle has a selection of prizes donated by the teams and is a quick fire raffle drawn on the night. There are also 3 special draws, one for a signed Scotland top, one a signed Rangers top and one a Celtic top signed by Joe Ledley. Tickets for these will be available through the KCFC teams or directly to Peter on 07903 874 255

This was in the "Ardrossan" tonight, but i would like to add a bit of info re the raffle which Peter explained to me earlier.

We are having 3 "books", one for the Scotland, one for the Rangers and one for the Celtic tops as well as the general raffle. If anyone wants to sell tickets at work etc then sell specifically for which ever prize, make a note of the name, collect the money then inform Peter who will issue tickets for the appropriate jersey which you can take back to the customer. Clear as mud lol, but do your best. Cheers Steve

Kilbirnie Community Football Club held their annual Fun Day on Sunday 14th at the Vale and were blessed with a sunny warm day .

The KCFC teams invited friends from Beith , Dalry, Largs, Kilwinning, Girdle Toll, Cumnock and Dumfries to come along and join in the fun and some good football was put on display by all the teams.

An invitation match for the ladies, the KCFC mums against Garnock Pool also provided some entertaining and skillful football and was enjoyed by all the girls who played, they want more, so any community clubs out there fancy a mum's kick about please get in touch.

The bouncy castles and ride helped keep the young ones entertained and thanks to the local fire brigade for bringing their engine along.

Thanks also to R.T.Cycles who provided a mountain bike for the raffle which was won by one of the girl players in KCFC, Rebecca Melrose.

The beat the goalie prize was won after a final shoot out by John McMillan. Congratulations to Rebecca and John .

A big thank you to the army of KCFC volunteers who kept the bottle stall, raffle, btg, target shoot, wet sponge throw, and mini kickers activity going all day long, also to David for his Mini Olympic activity and Gadget for the sounds and PA.

The kids had plenty to keep them busy............, meanwhile the adults could be found enjoying the beer tent, burger bar, ice cream van and all the other healthy pursuits expected of them !!.

Last but not least thanks to the "early shift" who came in and set up the parks, marquee and activities. You all know who you are and of course KCFC appreciates the support of all who came along to join in the fun and support their local community club.

Same time, same place next year Sunday 12th August 2012, but before that we hope to see you all again at our Winter Dance on Saturday 19th November.......more details to follow, but make a note in your diaries please.

Thank you all

Mags's Bungee Jump - 21.05.11

Ladeside Lions Team Secretary Mags is going to do a Bungee Jump to help raise funds for both Ladeside Lions & Garnock Valley Youths. She will attend Xscape, Braehead, be taken 160ft in the air by crane and hopefully jump! Funds will help The Lions team this year as they go into their first season at 11-a-side competative football.

Garnock Valley Youths will benefit from new strips and entering tournaments for both teams over the coming months. Mags will need all the support she can get, (pardon the pun!), so if your not doing anything on Saturday 21st May come along to Xscape, Braehead at 1pm and watch a couch potatoe, 42yr old mum, who has a 'big' fear of heights, take the death defying leap, a whole 160ft of it!!

Feel free to make a flag/banner wishing Mags luck... she'll be needing it, lol!!!

Coaches In Service - Positive Coaching Scotland

KCFC held a coaches in service evening on Friday 29th May with John Brown (SFA South West Region Club Development Manager ) talking on the Positive Coaching Scotland project, followed by Craig Hamilton, (Norht Ayrshire Football Development Manager) demonstrating the new skills programme being put out to the clubs as an integral part of their training sessions.

John emphasised that we as coaches should praise effort, setting the young players tasks to try in a game and encouraging them when they try even if not always successful.

Kids love to play, they love to have fun and enjoy it so we should not knock that enthusiasm by criticising, making sarcastic comments or giving negative actions.

We should build them up giving praise (truthful and specific), showing appreciation, listening to what they have to say about the game or their performance, and with positive actions from the side lines.

Honour the game, its rules, your opponents and the officials.

Craig showed a short video of the skills being piloted in the North region, then it was out doors to practice those skills ready to take back to the teams.

Side by side, diagonal attack, face to face, back to goal were all demonstrated.

Drag backs, step overs, twist offs, stop turns had some of the older guys in knots but the young ones coped no problem and these skills will definitely improve the level of play of your teams.

A great evening enjoyed by all who were there. Unfortunately a lot of you guys missed it. Training aids will be on line soon for this.

Childrens Football - Equal Playing Time

Friends,

Just thought I would send out a wee reminder for all clubs with teams playing Soccer 7 and Fun 4s.

I have witnessed a few games recently and was disappointed by the way the some of the teams used their players.

It is really important that coaches ensure that the players ALL get a fair chance to play. Each child should get equal playing time from week to week and over the course of the season.

It seems that many coaches are just playing what they see as their "best team" and using subs as token gestures at the end of the game.

Please remember that we are all trying to develop all players to their maximum potential and not just focus on winning games at this Primary school level. Remember that the "star" at 9 years old is not necessarily the player who will do the best as an adult. Players who may not be as able at young ages often develop later but can be unfairly denied that chance by coaches focussing purely on results at this young age.

If coaches make it clear from the start that all players will get their fair share of playing time then parents and players can have no complaints when it is their turn to be a sub.

Coaches that attended the recent Sevens or Fours in service days will know that the SFA and the leagues in which you play all advocate equal playing time.

Please pass on this reminder to all coaches particularly those at the younger age groups.

Regards,

JB

KCFC Ladeside Lions - sponsored walk - Sat 23.04.11

KCFC Ladeside Lions did a sponsored walk along Irvine beach this morning, walking in excess of 4 miles. They started at 10:30am, unfortunately the weather wasn't that kind to us, it was overcast on the way out, as soon as we stopped for a break & make our way back the rain came down in a steady fashion. Not deterring our youngsters, they continued on exploring their surroundings as they went along.

They are raising funds to help both go towards their presentation this year & a new away strip as they've grown out of their old one. Afterwards we headed to KFC in Irvine to treat the team for their perseverance today.

Thanks to the parents who assisted today, either on the walk or with transport getting all the team there & back again.

KITS FOR KIDS

KCFC Girls

KCFC girls U11s looking smart in their Scotland training gear but asking for help in getting a new match strip through the Daily Record Kits for Kids promotion.

Could you put a bit in paper (either Kilbirnie News, KCFC results or both) with the photo asking people if they could collect kits for kids tokens from Daily Record & Sunday Mail. The U11s girls have been successful in their registration as have the new U7s KCFC Wasps and all tokens will be pooled for these KCFC teams. The tokens which started appearing in the Record this weekend can be handed in to Garnock pool or the library who will collect on behalf of the KCFC teams. Whether you are involved in KCFC or not, your tokens would be much appreciated and a great help to your community teams,.

Thank you

Could you also say that the girls are always looking for players at all times, anyone interested born in years 2000, 01 or 02 should contact John on 07833797636 or Davy on 682037.
